2024 PNA SCHOLARSHIP AWARDEE
Carla McNulty
Carla McNulty, a dedicated and passionate nurse practitioner, has been awarded the prestigious PNA scholarship. With nearly 15 years of experience in the nursing profession, Carla's journey began in a medical-surgical-oncology unit, where she discovered her true calling in oncology. Her work with oncology patients, whose strength and resilience have deeply inspired her, fuels her commitment to continuous learning and providing high-quality care.
Carla is currently pursuing her PhD in Nursing at Pace University, having just completed her second year. Her research focuses on end-of-life and palliative care within Hispanic communities, a deeply personal mission given her own Hispanic heritage. She aims to raise awareness and improve the utilization of palliative and hospice care services, which are notably underutilized in these communities.
In addition to her clinical work, Carla is driven by a desire to educate and empower future nurses. Her experience as a clinical instructor has shown her the importance of motivating and equipping nurses with the latest medical advances and techniques. Carla's vision extends beyond her own academic and professional achievements; she is committed to making a lasting impact through research, education, and leadership in the nursing field.
Carla McNulty's dedication to her patients, her pursuit of advanced knowledge, and her commitment to giving back to the community make her a deserving recipient of the PNA scholarship. Her work promises to significantly contribute to the nursing profession and improve healthcare outcomes for underserved populations.
2024 applications are closed.
The Professional Nurses Association (PNA) is a professional local nursing organization committed to the advancement of nursing practice, education and research that promotes the standards of the American Nursing Association and includes nurses and nursing students from Putnam and Dutchess counties. The members of the PNA are committed to the support of nursing education and award an annual scholarship to a nursing student or nurse, who has the potential and academic ability to complete an undergraduate (ADN, BSN) or advanced nursing program (MSN, DNP, PHD). The scholarship awarded varies ($500-$1000) depending on available funds. The applicant must attend an accredited program and be academically successful in the 3rd or 4th semester.
Information about the recipient of the award will be highlighted in the PNA newsletter publication. A completed application is an implied consent that the name of the awardee, their school and/or place of work will be used in the release.
